Sesame - Calgary: Experience Flavorful Chinese Cuisine with a Modern Twist

My favorite place for chinese food!!! Portions are huge and the price is fair. I like the spicy cumin lamb noodles and the ginger beef. They are really good. All dishes I have tried so far (4 visits) have been full of flavours with a perfect complement of seasonings. Staff are extremely friendly. Restaurant itself is nice and super clean - great open concept design and very modern.

Have only been to the establishment a few times but from day 1 experience, this is the place on University Ave to spend your hard earned money!! Great pricing for the portion and quality of food you receive. The variety of the menu is a great change for such a westernized food strip. The service is some of the most friendly, personable, and even compassionate style that I've come across in my 34 years in the city. I highly recommend this amazing environment and food for any occasion, whether it's just you, or if it's the work boys coming for lunch, or business folk in the area, or even for a First Date or a 30 Years Married Date Night. You will never be disappointed in your investments here! 4 days straight and I'm not :)

We grabbed dinner at this spot as a couple items stood out on their online menu. You order at the counter before sitting down. It was fairly early in the night (between 5 and 6) but the first 3 items we ordered were not available which was not the best way to start our meal. We shared pork dumplings to start which were packed with filling and very flavorful. I ordered the Spicy Cumin Lamb Noodles which had a good flavor and the noodles had a good consistency. It had a small kick of spice but thought it could have used a bit more lamb. I had the Milk Foam Strawberry slush with it which sounded really good but we both could barely taste the strawberry. My wife ordered the Sesame Chicken which came with sauce, rice and broccoli. The chicken was crispy and the sauce was good. She had the Mango Mountain CHA Real Fruit which had a strong mango flavor and she found it refreshing. Ordering at the counter gave us the impression of a fairly quick service restaurant but waited nearly 30 minutes for our food. It was nice to see that it was made to order (open kitchen) and lots of people were taking out food. Our drinks came out 5-10 minutes afterwards.

Chinese style everything. Ordered vermicelli with pork and the spring rolls were not Vietnamese spring rolls. It was the Chinese bean sprout ones. The pork was char siu. It tasted fine. Portions are big. My friend ordered pad Thai and it was very sweet. The bubble tea was standard. Ok place.

Food was delicious with huge portions. We got the chow mien and the sesame chicken. My chicken was so fresh and crispy, with the stick sauce, it’s exactly what you hope for when you get Chinese food. And the chow mien was so flavourful! We don’t make it to this part of Calgary often but will go out of our way to have a meal here again!

Great restaurant, clean, friendly service, fresh food, good portions, best prices I've seen so far. I love spicy food, and they all spice it up for me when I need it, which is amazing. Tips: You'd better eat in their restaurant, you'll get the freshest and most complete taste.

OMG! The beef fired rice noodle is the BEST in Calgary. I have tried so many Chinese restaurants and this dishes was AMAZING! I can’t believe it’s only $14 with a big plate of noodles and beef. Definitely worth it to try. The server is so nice and kind. Will be a regular for sure!
